Transference Workshop

Designed for

This workshop is aimed at Level 3 and Level 4 counsellors as well as newly qualified counsellors for those who are unfamiliar with Psychodynamic Approaches.

Learning Outcomes

During this 6-hour workshop you will explore the three views on T/CT relationship: Freudian, Object Relations, Inter-subjectivist. Also, we will consider how Projection, Projective identification and Parallel processes interplay with the T/TC dynamics.  T/CT are potent, pervasive and ubiquitous, in other words they are always at play within the therapeutic work, whether we are trained to recognize it or not. Thus, they have the potential either to make our work more efficient by enabling insights into the client’s world or to diminish the good we want to promote in our clients by losing ourselves in our own past. Therefore, we will have an experiential exercise when we use our own countertransference to identify the proactive and reactive aspects in relation to other participants. Following the exercise, we will discuss how to workwith and in transference and countertransference in the counselling relationship (non-analytic therapy).
